The Line of Messiah

    The Holy Spirit has given us two genealogies of the Master YAHUSHUA, tracing His ancestry after the flesh back to Abraham and Adam.  These two genealogies are found in Matthew and Luke.  In Matthew we have the ancestry of YAHUSHUA from Abraham through David to Joseph, the foster-father of YAHU-SHUA. 

    "The book of the generation of YAHUSHUA the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham." Matthew 1:1

    YAHUSHUA is here declared to be the son of David and the son of Abraham.  This is essential, for Matthew, a converted Jew, was inspired to write the Jewish gospel concerning the Jewish Messiah YAHUSHUA.  In Matthew YAHUSHUA offers Himself to Israel as their King and Messiah.  Now Israel would not accept anyone who could not establish two things.  First that He was a Hebrew of the seed of father Abraham, and Second that He was of the lineage of David, for these two requisites of the Messiah were prophesied and accepted by every earnest Israelite.  So the book of Matthew establishes this fact first of all which made YAHUSHUA eligible to be the King of Israel, since He was of the seed of Abraham and the royal line of David.  Then in  Matthew 1:2 we have the line traced through Isaac, Jacob and so on until we come to Joseph in Matthew 1:16 and there we read: -"And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born YAHUSHUA, who is called Messiah."

    All through the record from Abraham to Jacob, the father of Joseph, we read the record, "and Abraham begat Isaac and Isaac begat Jacob and Jacob begat Judah" and so on and so on until we come to Jacob, the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, and then suddenly the language changes, for instead of the words "and Joseph begat YAHUSHUA" we read, "Jacob begat Joseph THE HUSBAND OF MARY".

    Joseph, the HUSBAND of Mary, but not the father of YAHUSHUA, and then it adds "Mary, of WHOM WAS BORN YAHUSHUA".  How plain the record!  Joseph was the husband of Mary but NOT THE FATHER OF YAHUSHUA BY GENERATION.  Joseph, however, became the foster-father of YAHUSHUA, and being in the direct line of the throne of David it gave YAHUSHUA the legal right to the throne as King of the Jews.  His right to the throne has been established without inheritance of David's sinful line through the birth of a human father.

 The Curse on David's Line

    But there was a curse pronounced on the line of Joseph.  One of the descendants of David through Solomon, by the name of king Jehoachin, had committed a great sin.  You will find the record in Jeremiah 36:22, 23 of how the king took the Word of Elohim and cut it with a penknife and threw it in the fire to be burned, and because of this sin Elohim pronounced a curse upon the seed of this descendant of David THROUGH SOLOMON and the ancestor of Joseph, the husband of Mary.  The curse is recorded in Jeremiah 22:30, where we read, Thus saith YAHUWAH... no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah."

    The line of Solomon is here interrupted and because of the curse, it prevented another in that line of being king.  Had YAHUSHUA, therefore, been the natural son of Joseph, He would have been under that curse and have no right to the throne.   Through Joseph, He was in the legal line, but must not be in the natural line to avoid the curse, and still He must be the  "Son of David according to the flesh."  How will Elohim bring this about?  Listen: by choosing as the wife of Joseph the legal heir to the throne a woman who was the natural seed of David.  And so we have in Luke the geneology of the Master YAHUSHUA through another line that went back to David, but avoided the line of Solomon which had the curse upon it.  In Luke 3 we have this other geneology.  "And YAHUSHUA Himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli." Luke 3:23

    See how carefully the Holy Spirit guards the record, when it says that, He was, "AS WAS SUPPOSED" the son of Joseph, reminding us that He was not the natural born son of Joseph but SUPPOSED to be.  Then follows the geneology, and what confusion a loose reading of this passage has caused.  In Matthew Joseph is called the son of Jacob and his line traced to David.  Here He is said to be the son of Heli.  Now both are true.  Matthew gives the line from David through Solomon (Matt. 1:6), the line of Joseph, but luke gives us the line of David through NATHAN, another son of David and the brother of Solomon.  In Luke 3:31 we read, "Which was the son of Melea, which was the son of Menan, which was the son of Mattatha, which was the son of Nathan the son of David."

   Here we have the line of David Through Nathan, his son, instead of through Solomon.  So both Mary and Joseph were direct descendants of David, and Matthew gives the geneology of Joseph, the LEGAL LINE through Solomon, and Luke gives the line of Mary, the NATURAL LINE through Nathan, David's son.  By the line of Joseph, the foster-father, YAHUSHUA was the legal heir of the throne.  By His birth through Mary of the seed of David He was the NATURAL heir.

Joseph the Son of Heli

    But some of you are wondering about the expression that in Matthew where Joseph is called the son of Jacob, and in Luke he is called the son of Heli.  Heli was Mary's father.  Jacob was Joseph's father.  Heli was Joseph's father-in-law.  Father does not only mean the personal generation, but may mean foster-father or, father-in-law.  Son maymean the same thing.  YAHUSHUA is called Son of David but He was removed many generations from him.  So Joseph was through his espousal to Mary the Son of Heli, a descendant of David through his son, Nathan.

  The Wonderful Word

    And so Elohim brings these two, Joseph and Mary, together and fulfils His promise made in the Old Testament Scriptures.  He must be of the legal line of David and, therefore, Joseph must be His legal father, but to avoid the curse of this line He must not be of the natural flesh line of Solomon, and so Elohim steps outside this legal line and chooses a virgin of the seed of David and by supernatural conception causes her to give to the Messiah the flesh of David and avoids its sin.  The virgin birth was a necessity in the plan of salvation.  Can't you understand, then, if Elohim went to such infinite plans in providing for the sinless, virgin birth of the Messiah, and that it is spiritual suicide to reject this precious doctrine.

    The Messiah of YAHUWAH is your only hope of salvation.  To reject Him is to reject YAHUWAH and the Scriptures, and your eternal salvation.  Receive Him now before it is to late.

  Four Ways of Life

    There are four ways in which a new human life is brought into being:

    1. By a creative act, as in the case of Adam.

    2. By taking part of one human being and making another.  Eve is the one example of this.

   3. By natural, human conception and birth by two human parents.  That is the way all of us came into the world.

    4. By a supernatural conception whereby a woman became the mother of a child without a human father.  The one instance of this is the Master YAHUSHUA.

   This latter way, by supernatural conception, is called a  "new thing" by Jeremiah, "For YAHUWAH hath created a new thing in the earth, a woman shall compass a man." Jeremiah 31:22
